The hotel combines the charm of a Traditional Cornish Inn with the sleek efficiency of a modern roadside hotel. A total of 42 rooms, comprising of Double Rooms, Family Rooms and Twin Rooms for disabled guests appeal to a wide cross-section of visitors. Consequently, management have clearly identified the need for a flexible heating control strategy to suit their wide customer base, from holidaymakers to business people travelling into Cornwall. .
Prefect Controls’ experience in the hotel and student residential markets provided a useful insight to people’s expectation of heating systems, as well as a clear understanding of the operators’ need to manage cost.
Working closely with the client and his electrical contractor, we proposed the PRE2000 central control system to satisfy control requirements whilst avoiding uneconomic cost. The unique ability of the PRE2000 Series to interface with the hotel’s computerised management system, made the solution easy to integrate. Additionally, the system has been hyper-linked into the ‘management programme’ in the hotel computer and it now provides automatic control over times of operation and temperatures in individual rooms depending on daily occupancy.
The system communicates by injecting digital signals onto the existing building mains network (Mains Borne Signalling). As installation involves no pilot wiring, it was incorporated by the electrical contractor into his installation programme with a minimum of fuss, whilst the whole system was commissioned inside two days.
Management and reception staff are assured that rooms are heated only if they are occupied and when visitors arrive their room will be comfortably warm and welcoming.
